Editorial Policy
Purpose and scope Controller Guide exists to help every player find a controller that fits their hands, playstyle, and accessibility needs. Our editorial independence ensures that our recommendations are honest, data-backed, and user-first.
Independence and ethics
- No pay-to-play: We do not sell rankings or favorable coverage.
- Clear separation: Editorial and revenue operations are firewalled; partners have no control over content.
- Conflicts: Reviewers must disclose and avoid conflicts of interest.
Product selection We prioritize controllers that are widely available, meaningfully different, or critical for specific needs (e.g., small-hand fit, Hall-effect sticks, adaptive options). We avoid redundant coverage that does not benefit readers.
Hands-on verification We aim for hands-on testing before recommending any product. If that is not yet possible (e.g., pre-release), we label early impressions clearly and update after testing.
Evidence standards Claims must be supported by repeatable measurements, documented observations, or reputable sources. We cite firmware versions, test conditions, and known limitations.
Corrections and updates If we make a mistake, we correct it promptly and transparently with an editorial note. We update articles for firmware changes, availability, and pricing shifts and note what changed and why.
Community contributions We welcome reader feedback, long-term ownership reports, and accessibility insights. Submissions may be quoted with permission and attribution. We moderate for clarity, respect, and usefulness.
Affiliate disclosure Some links are affiliate links. If you click and buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence our testing, scoring, or rankings. Sponsored content, if any, is labeled as such.
Gifts and samples We accept loaner or review units with the understanding that coverage is not guaranteed. Loaners may be returned. We disclose provided samples where material.
Privacy and data We collect minimal data necessary to operate the site and measure performance. See our Privacy Policy for details on cookies, analytics, and your rights.
